article genre
(purpose, type)
This article will be an article which will fit into the Women’s Lifestyle genre and will focus on the subject of body dysmorphia. The reason that i have decided to focus on this subject is because many people aged 16-24 are body conscious therefore they will hopefully find my article easy to relate to.
Narrative voice
(1st, 2nd or 3rd person) |
My article will use a combination of all three narrative voices. The start of my article will be in the first person narrative as it is supposed to be a more personal section of the article in which I talk about my own experiences. My article will occasionally feature rhetorical questions which will make the readers question themselves.
Register
(informal/formal, colloquial, dialect, taboo words?)
My article will be written in a colloquial style so will therefore be very relaxed and chatty. My language will be a combination of formal and informal language. The more colloquial areas of my article will be the informal language which will help make the audience feel relaxed when reading the article. I will then use more formal language in my facts and important pieces of information so that the audience understands that these pieces of information are important and of a more serious nature.
Stylistics
(repetition, strong verbs, adjectives, alliteration, similes, metaphors, sentencing, rhythm)
Occasionally, my article will feature strong verbs to emphasise information. I will also occasionally feature metaphors within my article. My article will have quite a steady rhythm but will be slower in areas which feature important pieces of information as I want the audience to focus on these areas and fully absorb the information given.
Tone of address
(hectoring, sarcastic, ‘matey’, ironic, etc)
The pace of my article will be quite casual. I want the audience to relate to this article as much as possible, therefore I have included sentences such as “Throughout my teenage years, I have struggled with understanding and appreciating my own body shape” and “We’ve all had that awful photo from the night before that we didn’t want anyone to see put onto Facebook haven’t we?”
Structure and pace
(discourse structure, logical paragraphing, connectives, conclusion)
For this article, I will try not to make my paragraphs too large so as not to lose the audience’s interest. I will also try to only make my article a maximum of 1200 words to again, stop the article from being too long. I will use connectives at the start of each paragraph to connect my paragraphs together and also to make my article flow.
