Article Plan: Say It With Nails

Planning Comments
article genre
(purpose, type)
This article will be made to fit into the genre which is the Women’s Lifestyle genre. The purpose of this article will be for it to teach the audience about the art of nail painting and also teach them some designs to do themselves.
Narrative voice
(1st, 2nd or 3rd person)
The narratives that I have chosen to use for this article are the second and third person narrative. The third person narrative will be used mostly for the guides whilst the second person narrative will be used for the more chatty areas of my article.
Register
(informal/formal, colloquial, dialect, taboo words?)
The majority of my article will be colloquial; however, sections of it will be more formal to show that they are important. My article won’t feature any taboo language due to the fact that some of my audience are quite young and therefore shouldn’t be subjected to taboo language.
Stylistics
(repetition, strong verbs, adjectives, alliteration, similes, metaphors, sentencing, rhythm)
It is unlikely that this article will feature any specific stylistics as the majority of it will be a step-by-step guide. The sentencing rhythm for the main article will be quite fast, so as to build up excitement and interest for the step-by-step guides.
Tone of address
(hectoring, sarcastic, ‘matey’, ironic, etc)
The introduction to my article will be quite chatty and matey so as not to scare off the audience and to make them feel comfortable reading my article.
Structure and pace
(discourse structure, logical paragraphing, connectives, conclusion)
Seeing as my article itself will be broken up into many different areas and sections, the paragraphs will only be short. By making my paragraphs quite short, I will be able to maintain the audience’s attention as I know that many people of my TA do not enjoy reading large pieces of information.
